The California Wine Country is less than an hour's drive away from San Francisco and it is one of the most beautiful and popular sightseeing opportunities when visiting San Francisco. Our Muir Woods & Wine Country Tour combination is a great way to see two of the most popular San Francisco sights! On our tour you will enjoy the morning exploring the spectacular Redwood Sequoia trees at Muir Woods, then relax in the afternoon while your tour guide introduces you to the California Wine Country.
Muir Woods, a beautiful valley filled with Coastal Redwood Sequoia trees and it is one of the last virgin redwood forests remaining after 150 years of logging. You’ll spend about an hour there and then come back over the headlands and head north to wine country. We visit different wineries and tasting rooms, spending 45 minutes to 1 hour at each tasting stop. Learn how the wines are aged and the grapes are grown.
On the way back we will drive through the town of Sausalito and include a photo stop high above the Golden Gate Bridge (if we haven't done so in the morning).

Pick-up for your Wine Country tour at your San Francisco hotel in downtown or Fisherman's Wharf area.

Drive through the Marina neighborhood, past the Palace of Fine Arts, the Presidio, and head north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Continue north through the Marin Headlands to Sausalito.

Listen to the story of the Redwoods while driving over the headlands into Redwood Valley to Muir Woods National Monument.

Muir Woods walk. Spend an hour in the shadow of 250 foot redwoods, admiring the ferns and moss lining Redwood Creek, breathe in the fresh Bay (Laurel Tree) Leave scented air, and across the creek on one of 3 footbridges, and return by way of the gift shop and snack bar.

Head north on U.S. 101 to the first tasting stop in the Carneros Region of Sonoma county, the birthplace of California's wine industry.

Arrive at your first tasting stop and enjoy complimentary tasting of a variety of California wines. Or just stroll the grounds and take some pictures among the vines.

Drive to the lunch stop at a nice wine country plaza. Buy your meal (or bring a bag lunch), do a little window shopping afterwards or taste some more wine at one of the tasting rooms.

Get back in the vehicle and continue the Wine Tasting Tour. Visit more tasting stops and enjoy complimentary tastings of California wines and enjoy the views of the surrounding hills, before you begin the return trip to San Francisco

Start the return and head back South to Marin County and San Francisco, taking a little detour through the quaint town of Sausalito. (Optional ferry return to SF -fare not included)

- Vehicle Safety Inspection
- Safety is paramount in our industry and one of the biggest safety components in the tours we provide are our vehicles. Extranomical's fleet includes vans and mini-buses. Our vehicles are inspected constantly; first in the morning when the tour guide begins his/her day; second throughout the day the tour guide is verifying fluid levels, tire pressure and the general operation of the vehicle is monitored throughout the day. The vehicles are also inspected regularly (at least every 10,000) miles by our vehicle maintenance staff and also by independent certified mechanics during their routine maintenance. If that were not all, we also go through a thorough inspection performed by the California Highway Patrol once a year.
