Morning: Alcatraz Tour
Make your way to Pier 33 and board a ferry, and ride across the bay to Alcatraz Island. Your Alcatraz Tour begins after a short walk up a hill and into the prison, were you will receive a headset for an audio presentation which includes 45 minutes of recordings of actual guards and inmates who lived and worked on the Island, this audio presentation is also known as "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell house Tour". At the end of the tour, explore Alcatraz Island to your heart's content, just don’t miss the last ferry, you wouldn’t want to be spending the night there!

The night tour visits Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Haight/ Ashbury District, North Beach, Chinatown, Grace Cathedral, Union Square, Financial District, Civic Center, Castro District, Coit Tower and Twin Peaks (weather permitting). Our San Francisco tour includes 3 to 4 stops at various points of interest, including the Golden Gate Bridge and is fully guided with sightseeing commentary. The ferry ride from San Francisco to the island takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive on the island, a brief presentation of the island's history and guide to touring the prison is given. An audio tour is provided on entrance of the cell house that gives a recorded commentary from former inmates, prison guards and prison wardens. It takes roughly between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to do the full tour and just enough time to grab a souvenir. The ferry leaves roughly every thirty minutes. Learn interesting facts about the island, such as that Alcatraz was not only used as a prison but also as a harbor defense fort during the civil war and before then, was America's first lighthouse on the West Coast. Vehicle Safety Inspection: Safety is paramount in our industry and one of the biggest safety components in the tours we provide are our vehicles. Extranomical's fleet includes vans and mini-buses. Our vehicles are inspected constantly; first in the morning when the tour guide begins his/her day; second throughout the day the tour guide is verifying fluid levels, tire pressure and the general operation of the vehicle is monitored throughout the day. The vehicles are also inspected regularly (at least every 10,000) miles by our vehicle maintenance staff and also by independent certified mechanics during their routine maintenance. If that were not all, we also go through a thorough inspection performed by the California Highway Patrol once a year.
Tour Guide Training & Substance Abuse Testing: Our tour guides are extensively trained on both safety driving techniques and on providing an informative and interesting tour.
