Wine Lover's℠ Luxury Wine Country Tour

Semi-Private Luxury Wine Country Tour in 1 Day

Get VIP treatment on Extranomical’s Wine Lover's Wine Country Tour. On our luxury vehicle equipped with premium captain seats, you will enjoy additional rear A/C for extra comfort, extra head room, and a sound system.

You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy this Wine Lover’s Tour; simply a fresh and eager palate will suffice. Our Wine Lover’s Luxury Wine Country Tour is a semi-private, luxury tour, which means:

  • You’ll be traveling in a smaller group
  • Get more personalized service at the tasting rooms
  • Have the freedom to visit more wineries
  • Enjoy the ability to request winery stops
  • Relax in leather seats of a luxury van

This Wine Lover's Luxury Wine Country Tour has the flexibility to visit Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, or in some instances, both. You’ll be able to visit wineries large and grand as well as boutique and family-owned wineries that are off the beaten path of large tour buses. Your guide will spend some time in the first hour taking requests and discussing the options. If you’d like to expedite this process, you can get your winery requests in ahead of time by emailing We work hard to entertain all requests and meet consensus with your tour group in order to maximize time in wine country.

Depending on the wine regions you decide to visit, you’ll spend your morning and afternoon touring and tasting 4-6 wineries. Napa Valley is a bit further away from San Francisco, which means a little more driving and less time for wine tasting. During the driving portion of your wine tour, your guide will fill you in on the colorful history of California’s wine industry and the science and art of winemaking.

Extranomical’s Wine Lover’s Tour provides the opportunity to visit many of the popular Napa regions, such as Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Yountville or Stags Leap, and the Sonoma Valley region. We’ll make time to picnic at a winery or grab lunch at a favorite local restaurant.  Some wineries offer complimentary wine tasting; however, most charge a nominal fee of $5 to $10 (although some famous wineries charge upwards of $25). We suggest a bit of research ahead of time to make sure you’re aware of the wine tasting fees your requested wineries will impose on guests. Also, your guide has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Wine Country and can help your tour group navigate the wine regions, as well as suggest wineries that offer the best views and the best wines at the best value. Think of them as your personal wine country concierge; they are there to make your wine tasting experience remarkable!

How we select our Wine Lover’s Luxury Wine Country Tour Stops:

California has over 1400 Wineries, the majority of which are located in Sonoma and Napa Valley. Our guide will first narrow down the list to those within a reasonable distance, maximizing your time wine tasting rather than driving. We have over a decade of experience touring the wine country and within this time, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite wineries, offering exceptional wines, gorgeous scenery, friendly service, interesting history, and great values. Here’s our current list of wineries we think are pretty awesome. Keep in mind we can’t possibly visit all of these wineries on a single tour, but this gives you an idea of where we may end up when you travel with us.

Wine Lover's℠ Luxury Wine Country Tour
– Allison K. on 11/02/2015

Phil was an excellent tour guide. He gave us a brief overview of the city as we were heading to the valley and was very knowledgeable about the area. He went above and beyond when he decided to squeeze in an extra winery for us all that had free tastings. In addition, he was courtesy, kind and had a great personality. I would recommend Phil as a driver any-day!

Visiting a friend in Alameda and she booked this tour. Could not have made a better pick!! Phil was a great tour guide and provided a lot of information during the tour. He accommodated as many request as he was able and the entire day was a blast. Total of 8 riders giving the opportunity to get to know each one. So much better than the coach tour we took a few years back. Would recommend this to anyone who would like to tour wine country with a personal touch. Great work Phil!!! Ray and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with you and appreciate your professionalism!!!

My husband and I booked the luxury wine country tour and had a great time! Our tour guide Frank was very pleasant and full of interesting facts about Napa, Sonoma and the City of San Francisco. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and would highly recommend this tour. The small group was perfect for this type of tour.

Where do I begin? This was a fantastic tour! It is done as a small group (our tour had 8). You get to make suggestions on wineries to visit and then the tour guide lines up the reservations for the day balancing the requests with what makes the most sense geographically and the availability for the winery to accommodate the group. Don, our fantastic tour guide, accommodated 3 of our requests, as well as some from the other guests & then filled in with a suggestion of his own. I can't say enough wonderful things about Don. He was the perfect mix of information, accommodation, charm & a little bit camp director keeping everyone on time. We started our day at Jacuzzi, a delightful & beautiful winery in Carneros in Sonoma county that specializes in Italian wine. We split off a honeymoon couple from our group so that they could go to Stag's Leap, which could not accommodate all of us. Next up was Silverado, an outstanding winery & setting. We stopped for lunch at V. Sattui, a charming winery & setting. Then we went to Frog's Leap, another outstanding winery in a gorgeous setting. The last stop of the day was originally going to be Inglenook but Don accommodated our request to change that to Domaine Carneros & magically got them to accommodate our group with a reservation at the last minute. It was just outstanding! Their chateau like winery was simply gorgeous! Sitting out on their patio drinking their incredible sparkling wines looking over the hills & vineyards was the absolutely perfect way to wind up the day. Our tour guide Don made the drive between the wineries very entertaining interspersing great information with a wine themed music track. If you want to have a tour to remember & talk about for a long time, take this tour!

Excellent tour! Frank our driver/guide pulled up to our hotel right on time greated us by name. He pulled up driving a black mini bus not a 15 passenger van. The mini bus was tall enought that a 6'3" tall person could stand up with out ducting, plenty of leg room in first row of seats but back rows where tight. Sinec we where the last pickup Frank spent about 5 to 10 minutes with all the members of tours to decide upon which wine regions and winerys to go to. He reminded us the number of winerys we could goto depended on the distance we had to drive between them so his recomendation was to focus on a region and advised again on tasting fees. We all decided we wanted to goto lesser known winerys in the Russian River Area. On the way Frank gave out interesting information about wine and the area we where headed he would skip on some stuff since we all had been on these kinds of tours and tastings before. Frank is very accommodating in where you want to go and what kinds of information he was giving out, it was not a memorized Disney speil. The wineries that we went too where all very nice and not busy our group was the only ones there at most. The last winery Frank had to call ahead to make an apointment for our visit. Each winery had a diffent experience from luxory tasting room to converted garage. Frank gave us tips on what to look for and what to expect at each winery. Lunch was on our own and Frank stoped at a country/general store in the Dry Creek area that had old world charm and a great food. This was the best wine tour we had taken. Will definitly book again!

Anthony was an awesome tour guide! We made it to 5 different wineries + a lunch stop in Sonoma Plaza, which has lots of tasting rooms to enjoy over lunch. Anthony was open to stopping at as many of the requested wineries as possible, and he also introduced us to some great new wineries as well! To top it off, he dropped us off in Sausalito at the end of the tour, as requested, and we were able to spend a couple of hours exploring Sausalito before heading back to SF on the ferry. Loved the customizable and small group nature of this tour, and would definitely do it again...but only if Anthony is our tour guide! :-)
