Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Tour

  • What do I need to bring?

    • Sturdy shoes
    • Camera
    • Extra spending money for meals
    • Water bottle
    • Hat (if necessary)
    • Warm clothes and a waterproof jacket during the winter months
    • Sunscreen (if necessary)
    • Umbrella (if necessary)
  • What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, such as shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads. Hiking sandals (rather than beach sandals) can be worn on the Total Yosemite Experience during the summer months. High heels, flip-flops, and open-toe shoes are not recommended. Temperatures vary depending on the season in Yosemite therefore we advise people to wear layered clothing.

  • What do I have to know about the Giant Sequoias hike?

We are the only tour company that goes to the Giant Sequoias Grove on the Yosemite tour, but the hike is dependent on trail and weather conditions. It is usually available from April to October only. If you choose not to participate in the hike, then you would have to stay at the bottom of the trail as you wait for the rest of the group to return from the hike. The hike is about 2 miles round-trip (about 30 minutes round-trip). Paved trail with 400 ft incline.

  • What languages are available for this tour?

The tour is narrated in English but we offer complimentary audio guides in 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. If an audio tour is required, please specify the languages needed in the comments section on the reservation page.

  • What type of vehicle do you use?

The Total Yosemite Experience Tour is a smaller group tour. We use either a Minibus or 15 seat Passenger Van. This tour also includes a hike to the Giant Sequoias Trees (weather permitting). The Yosemite Bus Tour operates in a large Motor Coach with more people and they do not visit the Giant Sequoia Grove on the bus tour.

  • What is the difference between Total Yosemite Experience & Yosemite bus tour?

The Total Yosemite Experince Tour is operated in a smaller vehicle, either a 15-Passengers van or an up to 36-Passenger Minibus. It is a semi-private tour that allows us to stop at a Giant Sequoia Grove. The Yosemite Tour by Bus is operated on a larger motor coach, holding up to 50 passengers, and stays inside Yosemite National Park 3-4 hours.

  • How can I travel around the park during my free time?

Yosemite National Park has a free, year-round Yosemite Valley Shuttle with stops at most major sights of interest and some trailheads. You can also take YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) for a fee if you wish to travel outside the park to the surrounding area. Depending on how much free time you have, there might not be time enough to take the bus.

  • Do I have to call to reconfirm my pick up time for the return trip?

Yes, we request that you call our toll free number at 1-800-231-3752 the morning of your return to confirm your pickup time and location inside Yosemite National Park.

  • What is the average temperature in Yosemite?

Yosemite weather varies depending on the season. SUMMER MONTHS (JUNE, JULY, AUGUST) Average High temperature: 87°F / 31°C - Average Low temperature: 51°F / 10°C, WINTER MONTHS (DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY) Average High temperature: 53°F / 12°C - Average Low temperature: 28°F / -2°C

  • Are there any meals included? If not, where can we buy lunch on the tour?

Meals are not included on this tour. We stop on the way to Yosemite where you can buy a snack or meal to take with you. There are also restaurants and a deli in Yosemite Valley where you can purchase lunch and snacks.

  • Are we allowed to take food and beverages into Yosemite National Park?

Yes, you can bring your own food and drinks with you. You will also be able to purchase food and drinks on the way to Yosemite or inside Yosemite National Park.

  • Is there a place where we can cook our own food?

No, unfortunately there is no kitchen nor is there a outdoor fire or grill.

  • Can I use my annual pass for the United States National Parks to enter the Yosemite for free?

Unfortunately you cannot use your pass on this tour. The entrance price for the Yosemite National Park is based on the vehicle used and not on the number of individuals in the vehicle. Therefore the $10 fee will be added to the cost of the tour when you pay.

  • Where and when are we dropped off on the first day of your Yosemite overnight tour?

You will be dropped off around lunch time close to the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. You will need to make your own way to your accommodation. Yosemite National Park has a free, year-round Yosemite Valley Shuttle with stops at most major sights of interest and some trailheads. You can also take YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) for a fee if you wish to travel outside the park to the surrounding area.

  • What is a double occupancy?

Double occupancy means two people per room. For example, the price quoted is per person, so "$200 double occupancy" means two people will pay $400 total. If you are going alone, you will pay a different rate for single occupancy.

  • How can we get to Yosemite View Lodge from Yosemite National Park?

The public transportation system YARTS will get you from inside the park to the Yosemite View Lodge.

  • Will I be sharing my tent during my overnight stay in Yosemite?

No, you will have your own cabin but you will have a shared bathroom.

  • How many people are staying in the same dorm at the Bug Lodge?

Rooms can accommodate about 6 to 12 occupants.

Total Yosemite Experience & Giant Sequoias Tour

Our one-day combination of Yosemite National Park & the Giant Sequoias Tour from San Francisco is a great way to get the most out of your Yosemite Tour. Our Total Yosemite Experience One-Day Tour maximizes the time you spend in Yosemite National Park by starting early and traveling efficiently in a 15-passenger van or 36-passenger minibus. This allows us to cover both Yosemite Valley & the Giant Sequoias in one day and spend more time in the park (at least five hours) than any other Yosemite tour available. In the Yosemite Valley leg, we generally stop to see El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls and Inspiration Point (aka Tunnel View). Unlike most tours, we drive to higher altitudes and lesser traveled parts of Yosemite National Park. For example, you may have a chance to hike (two miles round-trip) in the evergreen forest to see a Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias (weather and trail conditions permitting), the world's largest living things.

Choose our Total Yosemite Experience One-Day Tour to explore Yosemite with a smaller group, with experienced and informative guides, with a more personalized and exceptional service, and to end your day with an unforgettable experience. We will meet and even surpass your expectations.

Overall trip was good. Although is bit short, this day trip gave me an good introductory of Yosemite National Park. Definitely going back again for the superb view. Anthony was very helpful throughout the trip.
– Tze Yi (Eliza) Y. on 06/16/2016

Our guide was very experienced and open. He shared history in interesting ways and shared many good suggestions on what to do & eat. He was humourous, polite and he also kept time very well. Our guide went extra mile for us and it was appreciated The tour was very pleasant and yosemite was really magnificent. I am very glad to be able to see it before i leave.
– Jill S. on 06/16/2016

The tour was absolutely fantastic and Anthony was brilliant, very knowledgable, considering he comes from the posh side of Boston ;-) We would definitely recommend the tour to others, plus you get to try all different kinds of wine :-D
– Howard B. on 06/16/2016

Great from beginning to end
– Bhalchandra C. on 06/14/2016

Had a wonderful tour of yosemite with our tour guide JOHN. He had good information and really helped us through the tour. We appreciate the way he went about his business in a professional manner and really made us enjoy the tour. Its quite surprising that i do not find his photo in the above list. I wish him wonderful tours ahead and a fantastic career with your company
– LayHong T. on 06/13/2016

Paul is good and knowledgable tour guide that provide a lot info during the tour. He made a few extra stops (claimed by him) for us to that the photos, which I find it very good. The only part I feel lack of is the time allocated in the valley park itself is too short. Only 1.5hr including lunch! There is no way we could go any further and the park is huge!
– Henry M. on 06/12/2016

Curt was an exceptional driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable about Yosemite and the bay area. He really added to the experience. The sights in Yosemite were beautiful but it would have been better to have more time at the giant Sequoia section. 1 hour was too short and we really had to hurry up on the hike to make it back in time. All other parts of the tour were good and ruined well.
– Shadi E. on 06/11/2016

Yosemite tour was very nice and out of this world. If I new better, I would have booked an overnight stay over there. Also Ben was a great guy in giving us a lot of information during our tour in a funny yet comprehensive way that made our tour more interesting! Despite the bus broke down on our way back, Ben handled the situation professionally and managed to arrange for another bus in a short period of time while stopping us in a shopping area. Overall it was a great experience and a great day that I recommend for anyone who loves nature and hikes
