Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Tour
What do I need to bring?
- Sturdy shoes
- Extra spending money for meals
- Water bottle
- Hat (if necessary)
- Warm clothes and a waterproof jacket during the winter months
- Sunscreen (if necessary)
- Umbrella (if necessary)
What should I wear?
We recommend comfortable walking shoes, such as shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads. Hiking sandals (rather than beach sandals) can be worn on the Total Yosemite Experience during the summer months. High heels, flip-flops, and open-toe shoes are not recommended. Temperatures vary depending on the season in Yosemite therefore we advise people to wear layered clothing.
What do I have to know about the Giant Sequoias hike?
We are the only tour company that goes to the Giant Sequoias Grove on the Yosemite tour, but the hike is dependent on trail and weather conditions. It is usually available from April to October only. If you choose not to participate in the hike, then you would have to stay at the bottom of the trail as you wait for the rest of the group to return from the hike. The hike is about 2 miles round-trip (about 30 minutes round-trip). Paved trail with 400 ft incline.
What languages are available for this tour?
The tour is narrated in English but we offer complimentary audio guides in 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. If an audio tour is required, please specify the languages needed in the comments section on the reservation page.
What type of vehicle do you use?
The Total Yosemite Experience Tour is a smaller group tour. We use either a Minibus or 15 seat Passenger Van. This tour also includes a hike to the Giant Sequoias Trees (weather permitting). The Yosemite Bus Tour operates in a large Motor Coach with more people and they do not visit the Giant Sequoia Grove on the bus tour.
What is the difference between Total Yosemite Experience & Yosemite bus tour?
The Total Yosemite Experince Tour is operated in a smaller vehicle, either a 15-Passengers van or an up to 36-Passenger Minibus. It is a semi-private tour that allows us to stop at a Giant Sequoia Grove. The Yosemite Tour by Bus is operated on a larger motor coach, holding up to 50 passengers, and stays inside Yosemite National Park 3-4 hours.
How can I travel around the park during my free time?
Yosemite National Park has a free, year-round Yosemite Valley Shuttle with stops at most major sights of interest and some trailheads. You can also take YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) for a fee if you wish to travel outside the park to the surrounding area. Depending on how much free time you have, there might not be time enough to take the bus.
Do I have to call to reconfirm my pick up time for the return trip?
Yes, we request that you call our toll free number at 1-800-231-3752 the morning of your return to confirm your pickup time and location inside Yosemite National Park.
What is the average temperature in Yosemite?
Yosemite weather varies depending on the season. SUMMER MONTHS (JUNE, JULY, AUGUST) Average High temperature: 87°F / 31°C - Average Low temperature: 51°F / 10°C, WINTER MONTHS (DECEMBER, JANUARY, FEBRUARY) Average High temperature: 53°F / 12°C - Average Low temperature: 28°F / -2°C
Are there any meals included? If not, where can we buy lunch on the tour?
Meals are not included on this tour. We stop on the way to Yosemite where you can buy a snack or meal to take with you. There are also restaurants and a deli in Yosemite Valley where you can purchase lunch and snacks.
Are we allowed to take food and beverages into Yosemite National Park?
Yes, you can bring your own food and drinks with you. You will also be able to purchase food and drinks on the way to Yosemite or inside Yosemite National Park.
Is there a place where we can cook our own food?
No, unfortunately there is no kitchen nor is there a outdoor fire or grill.
Can I use my annual pass for the United States National Parks to enter the Yosemite for free?
Unfortunately you cannot use your pass on this tour. The entrance price for the Yosemite National Park is based on the vehicle used and not on the number of individuals in the vehicle. Therefore the $10 fee will be added to the cost of the tour when you pay.
Where and when are we dropped off on the first day of your Yosemite overnight tour?
You will be dropped off around lunch time close to the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. You will need to make your own way to your accommodation. Yosemite National Park has a free, year-round Yosemite Valley Shuttle with stops at most major sights of interest and some trailheads. You can also take YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) for a fee if you wish to travel outside the park to the surrounding area.
What is a double occupancy?
Double occupancy means two people per room. For example, the price quoted is per person, so "$200 double occupancy" means two people will pay $400 total. If you are going alone, you will pay a different rate for single occupancy.
How can we get to Yosemite View Lodge from Yosemite National Park?
The public transportation system YARTS will get you from inside the park to the Yosemite View Lodge.
Will I be sharing my tent during my overnight stay in Yosemite?
No, you will have your own cabin but you will have a shared bathroom.
How many people are staying in the same dorm at the Bug Lodge?
Rooms can accommodate about 6 to 12 occupants.
Total Yosemite Experience & Giant Sequoias Tour
Our one-day combination of Yosemite National Park & the Giant Sequoias Tour from San Francisco is a great way to get the most out of your Yosemite Tour. Our Total Yosemite Experience One-Day Tour maximizes the time you spend in Yosemite National Park by starting early and traveling efficiently in a 15-passenger van or 36-passenger minibus. This allows us to cover both Yosemite Valley & the Giant Sequoias in one day and spend more time in the park (at least five hours) than any other Yosemite tour available. In the Yosemite Valley leg, we generally stop to see El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls and Inspiration Point (aka Tunnel View). Unlike most tours, we drive to higher altitudes and lesser traveled parts of Yosemite National Park. For example, you may have a chance to hike (two miles round-trip) in the evergreen forest to see a Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias (weather and trail conditions permitting), the world's largest living things.
Choose our Total Yosemite Experience One-Day Tour to explore Yosemite with a smaller group, with experienced and informative guides, with a more personalized and exceptional service, and to end your day with an unforgettable experience. We will meet and even surpass your expectations.
* DURING WINTER MONTHS *

We appreciate the information and knowledge about the site and the environment.

We had a great time! The timing and time spent taking pictures of the bridge, in Muir Woods, and Salsalito were very well coordinated. We hit a bit of traffic going back (afternoon tour), but not too much. We enjoyed Don's tour direction and commentary - he is very personable and knowledgeable.

It was a good trip. Enjoyed it very much.

We had a fantastic trip out to Yosemite. Ross was absolutely awesome! He told stories and local history of each of the areas we passed through on the way out to Yosemite from San Francisco. More importantly, he knew when to concentrate on driving the bus instead of talking, especially on the curvy roads leading into the park.
It was a long day but a very good day! I would recommend this to all of my friends.

John was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and tried to stay engaged with the group.

Fun & knowlegable tour guide, however very very stricke with being on time & with time spent in the Redwoods! This is understandable but I suggest the tour company adjust this. My husband & I waited 10 yrs to see the Redwoods & only got to see one for 2 seconds. You must walk down hill for a mile which is very easy, however coming back it is uphill all the way back to the bus which you just about make it in time, it was 100 degrees! Tour guide was fabulous adding extras to our tour! Booking was very easy, did it on their website & customer service fabulous! Definitely book your tours with them!
